Brianna The Ballerina

All of my dreams have come true! I told Brian the other night that when we found out that we were having a little girl almost 5 years ago, I couldn't wait for the day I went to her dance recitals & watched her perform. I just hoped that she would love dance half as much as I do. She took two short dance classes through the parks and rec center, but last fall she was finally old enough to take a class at the studio where I grew up dancing. She couldn't wait for classes to start and truly enjoyed going to each and every class on Saturday mornings.

The recital was all about Bugs & I thought wouldn't she make a cute lady bug, bumble bee, butterfly, or other sweet bug. Then we found out she was going to be a flea in the Flea Circus! I was a little disappointed to tell you the truth but she didn't care what she was going to be, she thought it was great.

At the rehearsal they got their costumes and I fell in love with the fact that she was a flea, it was just soooo cute! She was a little nervous about dancing on the stage where we had watched the Nutcracker back in December. It is a little intimidating to such a little girl! I tried to comfort her and tell her all about my experiences, but I'm mom & she doesn't think I really know anything about dance or performing.

Rectial day came and we slicked her hair back in a tight bun, got make-up on (her favorite & most anticipated part) and got in her costume. I walked her to the room where she would wait until she performed. I looked down and tears were rolling down her face, she was petrified. After lots of hugs, telling her she would be wonderul and blotting the tears away, she sat with her class & I took my seat with the rest of the family.

We all sat with anticipation of our little flea and hoped that she had stopped crying and would make it on stage. Their music came on and the first & second girl came out & then Brianna. My heart was overjoyed watching her on that big stage, she did marvoulus and I couldn't be more proud.

At the intermission Brian and I went and got her & gave her flowers and a little dancing bear. We told her how much we enjoyed watching her and how proud we were to be her parents. She sat in awe watching the older girls dance & said "they are so beautiful, I want to do that"

So....whether she continues with dance or not, I couldn't be more proud of of my little ballarina.

Brianna is the one in the middle jumping with toes pointed!
This is just before the tears started rolling. Does she look scared or what! I asked her to smile, this face tells it all.
Proud mama and happy Brianna!
Ahh.. the anxiety is gone, the performance is over and now she gets to enjoy watching the older kids.
