One Last Summer Adventure

We were able to get the boat out a few times this Summer. A couple weeks ago when we took it out I wished we had gotten all the camping stuff together so we could stay the night and the kids could experience sleeping in a tent. We hadn't gone camping since 2005 and when we saw that we had another free weekend and that the weather was going to be so nice, we said "Why Not?"

It was a perfect weekend! We went to Green Peter and camped at the Whitcomb Creek Camp Ground. To our surprise, there were several spots available when we arrived Saturday morning. Set up went smooth and we were out on the Lake by lunch time. Grandma and Grandpa came for the day, which made it just that much better!

The camp ground was near the Boat Ramp and we got a nice big spot with some trails behind it. Unfortunatly no showers, but it did have potty's thank goodness!

Brice and Brianna thought the tent was pretty cool! And who knew, but Jaq, Gus Gus and Cinderella were camping in the same camp ground. Brianna saw them & they had a black and pink tent & a black and pink and red boat. Too bad the rest of us didn't get to see them :)

Ready to go out on the Lake!
We anchored the boat for awhile and everyone except my mom and I got in to swim and play around. The kids had a blast in the tube! Later, Brianna got in the tube behind the boat with me and Brice got in with Brian. Brianna could have been pulled around for an hour, she loved it!Brice had a very important job. He and Brianna took turns of course. Hanging with Grandma is the Best!Brian Wake Boarded and I got to Ski! It is nice having other people go with us. Usually when we go out, it is just the 4 of us and although Brice and Brianna are good spotters and hold the flag up high, we need to have other people with us to do anything more than swim around :) This is typical Brice, causing trouble. The table cloth wasn't on the picnic table more than 30 seconds before he started poking holes in it. Any time he thought we weren't paying attention he would sneek over to poke some more. As you can see he made it down the entire table and then started on the other side!Who can go camping without making Smores? The kids love them and Brice got sticky marshmellow all over his pants, shirt, face and poor Mickey's arm and ears, not to mention all over me as I was trying to clean up. Brianna didn't make a fourth of the mess he made.

Bed time proved to be my favorite part, that is until lights out. Brice ran all over all of us as if we were his personal human jungle gym. The genuine excitement and joy made me smile from the inside out. It is like the first time a baby tastes ice cream.Brianna had gone camping 2 times when she was a baby, but doesn't remember it. Everything about camping was new to them and the twinkle in their eye while lighting the fire, roasting marshmellows, slipping into the sleeping bags, making shadows with the flashlights and waking up and jumping into mom and dad's sleeping bags was what every parent wants to see and feel. I know next summer we will be busy but will have to squeeze camping into our plans!
